Hey everyone, as I'm writing this, I have just finished the entry scene for my second attempt at an MLP round-robin, 'My Little Pony G5', which I'll link here as soon it is uploaded:  My Little Pony G5 - Chapter One
My Little Pony: G5
Chapter One
Entry 1.0 MagicMan001

Aphid pawed the lush grass with her holed hoof, crooking her hind knees and taking deep, steady breaths. She lowered her head so her black scimitar of a horn was pointing forward. Filling her belly with one more deep breath and keeping it down, she threw her entire weight forward and charged horn-first at the tree.
She collided with the trunk with a low, dull thud, the tip of her horn becoming burrowing into the bark. When she opened her eyes, colors danced and swirled in front of her, until eventually the grey trunk came into focus.
Paw paw. Paw paw.
Aphid looked left and right just in time to see the greenish-yellow fruits landing on the cushiony grass, a big, juicy one rolling right up to her hooves.
Yanking her horn free, she scooped up the nicely ripe fruit and tore through the fleshy skin with her teeth to get to the refreshingly sweet pink inside. She spat out the little black seeds and licked the skin clean, see

In the same vein as 'Apart from the Herd', there are some guidelines for this story, inspired by those utilized by my friend :iconbrutalityinc:, which are all subjected to change.

I'd like to also thank BrutalityInc for his endorsement of my new round-robin in his journal. I really appreciate it, mate :)

Guidelines:

1) Originality: Being set in the future of Equestria post-MLP:FiM, there is a lot of room for new characters, be they the children of the characters from the show or otherwise. For example, a new character I introduce in my establishing entry scene is Princess Aphid, the adoptive changeling child of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor and Princess Flurry Heart's sister. There's no real limitations on the kind of characters you wish to create and I think I'll even create my own list journal of characters that exist in G5 as the round-robin progresses.

Of course, there's bound to be some social/political change and progression in the future, which of course I encourage and am greatly interested in seeing what we all come up with.

Now there's flexibility with what kinds of stories you'd like to tell, but just know that it's primarily a slice-of-life deal. Therefore, action, adventure, comedy, tragedy, drama, etc, are certainly welcome, but just don't forget what the robin is in its essence.

2) Continuity: You can write both one-shot entries or long multi-part ‘jaunts/sessions’/posts, and other writers are free to pick them up and continue where it is left off if you wish to follow it up with something of your own. If you want to write multi-part arcs, please have a title to go with it so it wouldn’t cause confusion. If you don’t want your 'jaunts'/'sessions'/posts followed up immediately (E.g. because you want to continue it later) or ever, please write a disclaimer at top or bottom of the text.

These 'jaunts/sessions'/posts will all compiled into multiple chapters.

3) Avoid OOC: Shouldn’t really need elaboration. This predominantly refers to the canon characters with established personalities. Character development is strongly encouraged, but naturally do try keep to their core personalities and behaviors.

4) Avoid Big Cosmic Reveals: Now I don't know how much this would apply to my round-robin compared to Brutality's, but I want to include this just in case: Avoid throwing these in. Tvtropes mentions a story trope, the ‘Cosmic Horror Reveal’, where a plot of a story gets abruptly overshadowed by a revelation that reveals the nature of the setting, substantially altering the plot and often becomes central to it at the expense of every other plot-point. Unless that was the author’s original intent, it is a problem that Brutality and many other's have witnessed in both normal fiction and fanfiction. Now if it really must be included in your entries, notify me by notes and seek permission first, okay?

5) Avoid author tracts: Now yes, from my own experience writing, I know how hard these can be to avoid. Some anvils need to be dropped, sure, but just try to be subtle about it much as possible.

Thanks again to BrutalityInc for granting me permission to utilize his guidelines for my own use and his promotion of my round-robin while it's been in development.

Have fun, everybody!
