It's Election Day today in the UK, when we in Britain--for those who don't know--vote for our MPs who will make up the House of Commons in the Parliament, out of whom the victorious party will, God willing, form the next government.

Traditionally, it has often just been between the Conservative and Labour parties, with the Liberal Democrats having the third party status, but in recent years, politics here has become more fragmented. No party won a majority in 2010, leading to a Conservative/LibDem coalition, and we have also recently seen a rise in multiple parties such as Ukip and the Scottish National Party. I like diversity of choice in politics, but our not-so representative current First Past the Post voting (vote share does not necessarily equal the number of seats) system will stunt their political gains, save for the SNP, which are predicted to SWEEP Scotland. We did have a choice for an alternative voting system a few years ago but we rejected it - which is SO typical of us Brits. We bitch and moan, bitch and moan, but when the opportunity for actual change arises, it's always better the devil we know.

I have already voted in my constituency, both for my prospective MP and local candidates. I won't say who for, and I won't tell you who to vote for, but for the love of God, if you live in Britain and you're registered, go out now and vote. Don't listen to the ravings of that fucking hypocritical prat, Russell Brand, not only is it your right and civil duty, it's one of the few genuine ways you Can help change things.

But I digress, from the looks of it, the polls are so damn tight, it's likely going to be yet another coalition or worse, a minority government. Tory or Labour led? Again, I can't honestly say at the time in question.

Have a good voting day, everyone!

I'm kind of depressed that King Sombra is not running for United States President.
